Grand Opening of the Grand Barn in Newport, WA

Updated: Nov 4, 2020

At the beginning of June I had the great pleasure to help organize the grand opening for The Grand Barn at Grand Pend Oreille Wedding Venue in Newport, Washington and I want to share all the fantastic photos that came out of it. We had a wonderful team of vendors who helped bring the beautiful barn to life and each of them deserve a highlight of their own!

It only makes sense to start with the venue that brought this wonderful team together… Grand Pend Oreille Wedding Venue. This venue is set on the shore of Pend Oreille River and has 7 beautiful acres of real estate to work with. The house, that functions as the bride and groom get ready suites, splits the property into what almost feels like two different venues. On one side there is a perfectly manicured lawn with a large white pergola at the helm which outlines the view of the river perfectly. There is also a floating dock and access to the dock on this side, the access will depend on the time or the year when the water level isn’t too high. On the other side of the house is The Grand Barn… the reason we all gathered for this awesome event. The owners have had a vision for this barn for quite some time, but it didn’t come to fruition until this year and I, for one, am so happy that it w. As you will see in the pictures below this barn also sits on the river shore with doors that open to frame the water view. There is also a covered patio on the front of the barn perfect for a dance floor and additional seating for larger receptions. Just beyond the barn is another good option for a ceremony space, except this one has been left natural – think long gorgeous grass and pine trees that make it feel like you are in a different world. I love that this venue has multiple options, so that no matter what style of wedding you are going for there is something for you here!

Next, let’s talk about the beautiful human who took these fantastic photos... Jaceya with Jaceya Gale Photography. We first met, very briefly, at the large Spokane Bridal Fest at the beginning of the year, so when this opportunity presented itself and I needed to put together a vendor team I knew just who to call. After looking at her work in January it was only a matter of time before we got the chance to work together and I am so glad we did. I mean… just look at these photos, come on!! If you are in the market for a wedding or lifestyle photographer, I would recommend Jaceya without hesitation. To add to her appeal, she is multi-talented, as she was the creator of the wonderfully perfect bridal bouquet, mostly out of things she found in her parent’s yard and on the side of the road. Accented, of course, with beautiful Trader Joe’s flowers.

The very photogenic couple and beautiful wardrobe in most of these photos were courtesy of Believe Bride. I first reached out to Believe Bride to see if they would be willing to supply a dress and suit that we could use for styled photos. I also asked if they had any models in mind who might be willing to help, since I know they do a lot of styled shoots just in their shop alone. That is when they mentioned that one of their own stylists would love to model with her husband and that there would be the added benefit of having her onsite with the dresses and to answer any questions that the brides touring the venue might have. I responded with a simple…PERFECT! Kami and her husband were awesome to work with and I can’t wait to use these photos for a long time to come. Kami was such a trooper on a cooler than desired day and, I think, it totally paid off!

The gorgeous décor pieces featured came from a couple of my favorites. First, the Attic Rentals. Mikhaela has some of the best pieces in our area and I know when I am working with her I can just give her a general idea of the look I am going for or the colors I am using and she will create magic! From the red wood farm tables and benches to the adorable lounge setting she’s got it all. Whether you are looking for a rustic or vintage or boho feel, you will not be disappointed with the pieces she has available to rent. If you play your cards right, she may even come and set it up for you… no really, she will. The perfectly mismatched, yet totally matching tableware came from the wonderful Nic Nac Nells. This mother daughter duo has a little bit of everything wrapped up into their cute little shop of décor. From full place settings, to centerpieces, to all the décor in between their pieces will surely help bring your wedding day or event vision to life!

Now, let’s discuss the food and beverage we had at this event because it was to die for. If you missed out, don’t worry I took the leftovers home and enjoyed them, so thank you. Lakeside Catering provided a wonderful spread of appetizers. Everyone that came through loved all the offerings. Yes, I didn’t hog it all… I did leave a little for some of the actual guests of the event! This wonderful catering team is changing over to a food truck in the near future, so stay tuned for updates from them. And what about those desserts? Hello, sugar! Catee Cakes provided samples of 3 different cakes and, I’ll be honest, by the end there wasn’t much left, so I made sure to sneak over and hide a couple to take home with me before they all got snatched up! However, after you taste her cake you will understand why folks didn’t take just one sample, but two and three and four samples. We also had the adorable and super trendy Brewski Wagon there. I’ll just say it… everybody should have this awesome converted horse trailer at their events! I love that it doesn’t take up much space, but has everything you need – 2 beer taps and enough storage space for wine, cider or any non-alcoholic beverages that you are serving, and of course, a bartender so you don’t have to worry about your guests getting out of control. Give them a call because I guarantee once the word gets out, they will be booked up QUICK!

Last up, but certainly not least, I want to talk about some of my favorite gals to not only be coworkers in the wedding industry in with, but also call friends… Marissa and Tiffany at Let's Elope CdA. These two are seriously Jills of All Trades! If you are looking to do a small elopement (I mean with everything going on this year, let’s admit, we have all considered it), give them a call and they will handle all the details for you. If you are looking for a couple of phenomenal officiants, give them a call. If you are looking to host a wedding or event at the Blackwell Hotel in downtown CdA, give them a call. You can not go wrong with having these two on your vendor team!
