Ten Favorite Wedding First Dance Songs

Picking your first dance song is either going to start out in one of two ways. You have those couples who know exactly what song is perfect for them when the subject comes up. Boom, mic drop, check in that box. Or you have those couples who have absolutely no idea where to start looking for a song to dance to out of the millions of songs in the world. I can help with that! When I first wrote out the title to this blog, it read “Five Favorite Wedding First Dance Songs” as if I thought I could narrow my list down to 5 songs. Silly me! I decided to go with 10, and even that was a challenge. There are so many amazing love songs out in the music world today it’s hard to create a “top 10” list, so that’s why this post is more accurately named “Ten Favorite Wedding First Dance Songs”.

10. Have I Told You Lately – Rod Stewart

Lyrics you’ll love: Have I told you lately that I love you / Have I told you there’s no one else above you / You fill my heart with gladness / Take away all my sadness / Ease my troubles, that’s what you do

9. Simply the Best – The Hound + The Fox

Lyrics you’ll love: You’re simply the best / Better than all the rest / Better than anyone, anyone I ever met / And I’m stuck on your heart / I hang on every word you say

8. Loving You Easy – Zac Brown Band

Lyrics you’ll love: You make loving you easy / You make loving you all I wanna do / Every little smile and every little touch

7. Perfect – Ed Sheeran

Lyrics you’ll love: Baby, I’m dancing in the dark, with you between my arms / Barfoot on the grass, listening to our favorite song / When I saw you in that dress, looking so beautiful / I don’t deserve this, darling, you look perfect tonight

6. In Case You Didn’t Know – Brett Young

Lyrics you’ll love: In case you didn’t know / Baby, I’m crazy ‘bout you / And I would be lyin’ if I said / That I could live this life without you

5. Made for You – Jake Owen

Lyrics you’ll love: My two arms are made for where you sleep / Sky was made for the moon and stars / You were made to steal my heart / And I was made for you, yeah I was made for you

4. Speechless – Dan + Shay

Lyrics you’ll love: Starin’ at you, standin’ there, in that dress / What it’s doin’ to me, ain’t a secret / ‘Cause watchin’ you is all that I can do / I’m speechless

3. Yours – Russell Dickerson

Lyrics you’ll love: I came to life when I first kissed you / The best me has his arms around you / You make me better than I was before / Thank God I’m yours

2. Forever Like That – Ben Rector

Lyrics you’ll love: I wanna love you forever, I do / I wanna spend all of my days with you / I’ll carry your burden and be the wind at your back / I wanna spend my forever / Forever like that

1. Your Song – Ellie Goulding

Lyrics you’ll love: I know it’s not much but / It’s the best I can do / My gift is my song and / This one’s for you

Bring up that Spotify app or Apple Music or YouTube and play each one of these songs… more than once! Listen to the lyrics. Feel the beat. Can you see yourselves moving to the music? Is it too fast or too slow? Does it feel too country? (Because let’s be real – the most common type of love song is a country love song.) Or maybe it’s not country enough… try Die A Happy Man by Thomas Rhett, Then by Brad Paisley, or Better Together by Luke Combs for even more of a country feel.
